Exploring Gaming Ecosystems: The Rise of AstroMust Games
The gaming industry is constantly evolving, and the emergence of new technologies such as Web3 has significantly impacted the way games are developed and played. In this blog post, we explore a recent conversation with Vincent Porquet, the creator and mastermind behind this unique gaming concept, and Mr. Konsole, the marketing manager. Get ready to delve into aspects of Web2 and Web3 gaming ecosystems, from the relationship between the two in the context of games like AstroMust to the importance of organizing and restructuring to build them successfully. We also delve into topics such as creating a multi-genre ecosystem for games, the role of AI in AstroMust Game, and the challenge of combining multiple game genres. Finally, we introduce AstroMust, an ecosystem of multi-genre games connected by a narrative, providing players with a unique and immersive gaming experience.
Web2 and Web3 Gaming Ecosystems
In this conversation, the speakers discuss the relationship between Web2 and Web3 in gaming ecosystems, specifically in the context of their own experience with the game AstroMust. From their understanding and experience, players interested in playing for fun are willing to spend money on their entertainment without necessarily investing in NFTs.
On the other hand, Web3 players have different profiles, including retail investors and play-to-earners from third-world countries. They engage in the game and NFTs for different reasons — investment and generating income. As such, the game ecosystem treats these players differently, catering to their unique needs and interests.
Splitting the players according to their preferences opens up the possibilities of creating an ecosystem where everyone brings value to each other, rather than trying to fit them all under one umbrella. This approach creates a diversified ecosystem where different players can interact in their unique ways.
The success of AstroMust with 172k views of the trailer, 40k downloads on the mobile app, and 25k active users were active users during the month of August 2022 is proof! These numbers also attest to the viability of the approach which allows the game to create its own niche in the ecosystem, catering to specific players according to their interests and preferences.
The speakers’ experience and approach in AstroMust’s gaming ecosystem provide insights into how other games can approach integrating Web2 and Web3 into their ecosystem, catering to different players’ needs and preferences.
Importance of Organizing and Restructuring for Building Successful Game Ecosystems
Organizing your team, having a strategic outlook, and letting the execution flow are crucial to building a successful game ecosystem. Anxiety and pressure are natural but it is important to let things play out as the brand grows. A cohesive community and partnerships can also greatly contribute to success. Co-creating and growing together while supporting each other’s success can lead to a rising tide that lifts all ships in the gaming space.
It is important to rethink and restructure when building game ecosystems to align with players’ wants and needs. Building solely on Web3 can be risky as there may not be enough players to sustain the game. Starting with a solid foundation in Web2 mobile and bridging back into Web3 as it matures can benefit the game and community down the line. While it may feel like a waste of time and money, the legwork put in initially can pave the way for greater opportunities and growth in the long run.
Creating a Multi-Genre Ecosystem for Games
What exactly is a multi-genre ecosystem for games? Essentially, it’s a collection of games that are all interconnected, where items and progress can be carried over from one game to another. It’s a unique concept that hasn’t really been explored yet, but we at our studio are working hard to make it a reality.
We’re also taking a different approach to game development by introducing a recycling model. Instead of letting successful games fade away, we’re taking elements from those games and incorporating them into our multi-genre ecosystem. It’s a way to spread the love and support different games in the industry. We all know how hard it is to break into the market, and even successful games eventually enter their end-of-life cycle. Our recycling model aims to give those games new life and keep players engaged in the ecosystem.
Looking back at the beginning of this journey, Vincent, the founder, advises that they must trust the vision. There were moments of anxiety and hesitation, but as they keep on walking this journey, they’re becoming more confident that the vision will actualize. It’s an exciting time for AstroMust, and they are ready to show others what our multi-genre ecosystem has to offer.
Joining the AstroMust Community
AstroMust is a gaming community that prides itself on being friendly and well-mannered. The community understands that not everyone may be familiar with all the technical jargon used in the gaming industry. Therefore, they ensure communicate in a language that is easy to understand, making it welcoming to everyone.
The community also incorporates new members in a friendly manner. They have mods who ensure that new members are on-boarded and educated into their ecosystem smoothly. As a game developer looking to create mini-games that could be incorporated into AstroMust, it’s advisable to join the community directly. They are open to working with other people, and depending on your vision, they would accommodate you. The only thing they would help you with is integrating your game with their story, ensuring that it adds value to the rest of the games in their ecosystem.
AstroMust’s Team and Advisors
AstroMust’s team has six members, three developers, one Unity developer, a CTO, and three community marketing individuals. The community’s active involvement is one of its unique features. The guns in the game are all made by the community rather than the developers. Additionally, their advisor team is essential; they make strategic decisions about how they go about with the project. The advisors are active in the project, and some are founders of reputable organizations such as Swissborg and the CEO of Exclusible.
What sets AstroMust Apart from Other Games?
AstroMust sets itself apart from other games by bridging modern and traditional gaming. They make it simple to join the community and add value to the gaming industry both from the development side and the community directly. AstroMust players can expect to experience a friendly ecosystem, well-mannered mods, and interactions with the community. These are some of the unique features that set them apart from other games.
Integrating Scrapped Games into the AstroMust Ecosystem
AstroMust has an innovative plan to integrate scrapped games from other studios into their ecosystem for revenue generation and rapid expansion. The company plans to build three games internally called MVPs (minimum viable products) and show that they can play together. However, all future games that are going to come to AstroMust will be integrated differently, by connecting with studios and proposing to them to integrate their games that are going to be scrapped inside the AstroMust ecosystem. This system ensures high-quality games that have already performed well on the App Store.
Traditional and Modern Games in the Ecosystem
AstroMust will incorporate both traditional and modern games into its ecosystem. Their aim is to provide a curated version of Roblox, where all games are in one story, and players can share the progression. Traditional games will be integrated through storyline adaptations and the ability to exchange items. AstroMust is a mobile gaming ecosystem that wants to incorporate everyone regardless of their technological or financial ability. Games should be games, and AstroMust believes in enabling interoperability and ownership while not using the same technology to gatekeep.
The Role of AI in AstroMust Game
AstroMust Game’s AI feature is one of the key elements of this game. The AI story started before the ChatGPT story, and the company utilized Unity’s OpenAI plugin to create an astronaut that can build a robot companion. The robot companion is powered by ChatGPT, which allows the AI companion to remember your conversations with them. This feature gives players an immersive experience that they’ve never had before. Imagine receiving a message from your AI robot on your phone, asking for help in building the forge. It’s a unique and exciting experience that Astro Monks offers.
Players’ Interaction with AI
AstroMust Game has an interesting way of allowing players to interact with other players using AI. The AI companion remembers conversations, and this has made it possible for developers to create unique scenarios for players to enjoy. If the AI companion becomes an NFT, players can sell it if they wish. The AI companion can even tell players if it’s not worth the price players are charging for it. It’s a fascinating and immersive way to interact with AI. The developers are planning to add voice chat soon, making the game even more fun to play.
Players' Interaction with Each Other
In AstroMust, players interact with each other differently, depending on the type of game they play. For instance, in the Battle Royale game mode, 200 players can fight on the same map, while in the RPG, players play simultaneously without interacting directly. However, the developers are currently working on adding global events that will make simultaneous play more fun. Future games AstroMust will develop may not include a multiplayer aspect, but they will all have unique ways of playing and enjoying the game.
Narrative and World-Building in AstroMust
Starting with the Basics
In AstroMust, the base of the story is real, which allows for the imagination to extrapolate from it. This feature of the game makes it easy to add new games to the ecosystem. For example, if players want a Pokemon game, they can create a planet with animals that behave like Pokemon. The galaxy is vast, meaning there are endless possibilities to explore, making imagination a significant part of AstroMust.
Narrative in AstroMust
The narrative in AstroMust is continuous and created by both the development team and the community. The core of the story is about an astronaut who crash-lands on Earth, builds a robot to help him build a rocket, and heads to the moon. The community is part of the story from the beginning; players must train before becoming astronauts, and this is where the recruits come in. In addition, the metaverse community has admin access, allowing them to create storylines, and quests, and develop the lore itself. The backstory of AstroMust is already quite extensive, thanks to the collaboration between the development team and the community.
The Challenge of Combining Multiple Genres
Combining different game genres is a significant challenge for game developers. It’s vital to ensure that each genre is well-executed while fitting together with the others to create a cohesive and engaging gaming experience for players across all genres. AstroMust recognized that the common point between all imaginations is the freedom to imagine and extrapolate, which is precisely what they aim to connect in their game.
To achieve this, AstroMust had to take significant steps, starting with a thoughtful process. They acknowledged that different game genres can be so diverse that it’s hard to see how you can combine them together. However, they understood that the freedom to imagine is the concept of extrapolation and that each genre provides an avenue for this. Thus, they approach the challenge of combining multiple genres by ensuring that each genre can extrapolate and take cues from each other to create a cohesive gaming experience that provides the freedom to imagine.
The Development Pipeline at AstroMust
AstroMust currently has three games in the pipeline. The first is an update to the game of the App Store, which sets the foundation for the crafting side of the game. This update is vital to AstroMust as it will host the entire story and the crafting side, connecting the shooter game and the RPG. Once the update is live, they plan to focus on the shooter game, which they are adapting to mobile, with all ecosystems mainly available on mobile devices.
Additionally, the third game they plan to launch this year is a hyper-casual game, mainly because of the broad audience it has. They recognize that casual games have the ability to reach a more extensive audience, acting as a funnel and hook for the project to get more eyeballs. To work out the stories, lore, and other details, Astromus uses a large metaverse, with around six maps are currently available, representing what’s to come. All the games are designed to work together, ensuring that players across different genres can enjoy a cohesive gaming experience.
AstroMust: An Ecosystem of Multi-Genre Games Linked by a Narrative
What is AstroMust?
AstroMust is an ecosystem of games that are multi-genre and interconnected through a cohesive narrative. The goal of AstroMust is to create a unique gaming experience where players can explore different game genres, but within the same universe. This innovative approach allows players to experience different types of games without having to switch between different platforms or consoles. The glue that holds all these games together is the narrative, which provides a common thread that links all the games within the AstroMust universe.
How does AstroMust work?
AstroMust comprises different mini-games of various genres, such as an RPG, shooter, racing, and survival games, among others. While each game has its unique mechanics and gameplay, they all tie back to the overarching narrative. The narrative is the foundation that connects all the games within the AstroMust ecosystem. Since the narrative is neutral, it allows players to explore different game genres without the need to change the story.
What games are currently available in AstroMust?
AstroMust is relatively new, and the first game available is a demo of the RPG or survival game called AstroMust, which is available on the App Store. Astro Royale, a battle royale game, is available for playing on a launcher called Elixir, and it can host up to 200 players together. This game has already been polished, and a recent tournament was successful.
Conclusion
AstroMust presents a new gaming experience of linking multi-genre games through a cohesive narrative. The aim is to allow players to explore different game genres without losing the connection to a single universe. While currently, only two games are available, AstroMust will offer more unique games as the ecosystem grows. AstroMust came to be through the vision of a game developer who wanted to create a game that was very close to reality. With the introduction of Web3, the vision expanded, and AstroMust became a reality.
